As the owner of a Mini Cooper, you want to make sure your luxury vehicle continues to offer optimal performance for as long as possible. These supercharged vehicles are built to last, with precise instrumentation, well-designed engines, and incredible power. For an amazing driving experience, Beyer Motor Works recommends the following five maintenance tips for your Mini Cooper.
1. Premium Engine Oil
A high-performance engine needs the right type of fluid to operate at its best. Not only does this type of oil provide lubrication for all internal components, but it also provides heat protection as well. We recommend a full synthetic oil – like a 5W-30 – for your Mini Cooper.
2. High-Octane Fuel
A high-octane fuel supplies your Mini Cooper with the power it needs for optimal acceleration and long-term performance. The minimum requirement for your Mini engine is 91 octane, but we recommend using 93 or 95 octane to sustain your vehicle for the long run.
3. Transmission Fluid
One of the best ways to take care of your Mini Cooper is to change the transmission fluid between 30,000 and 40,000 miles. This essential fluid helps reduce the wear and tear of your engine, as well as improve its overall durability.
4. Water Pump & Thermostat
Mini Coopers are built with special, light alloys. These materials are great for performance, but makes these vehicles extremely sensitive to overheating. Replacing the water pump and thermostat on a periodic basis needs to be a priority, as these elements aid in cooling the engine. Our mechanics recommend replacing these two components every 50,000 miles to avoid any unnecessary repairs.
5. Air Filter
Replacing the air filter once a year keeps the air intake system working as efficiently as possible. Ask your mechanic to vacuum out all the carbon deposits from the intake system as well. This will ensure that air can flow freely through the system.
