SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE:

IT’S NOT A “ONE SIZE FITS ALL APPROACH”

While Manufacturers might be telling you that you don’t need tune-ups anymore, cars can go 15,000 miles before getting oil changes, and that fluids for things like your brake systems, transmission, and cooling systems last the entire lifespan of your vehicle. Don’t believe the hype that your BMW or Mini Cooper doesn’t need Scheduled Maintenance.

Let’s be honest, if it’s your sole mission in life to sell cars, then you’d probably tell people these things too. Why? If people don’t do any maintenance on their cars, and your so-called “lifetime” is really only 7 to 8 years (or 80k-100k miles… whichever comes first), then what happens? Seven or eight years later people are forced to buy a new car. Not the most financially sound investment for a consumer, right?

At Beyer Motor Works, we would recommend having your BMW or Mini Cooper serviced based on these simple questions:

  • Timeframe: How long do you plan on owning your BMW or Mini Cooper?
  • Mileage: How many miles do you see yourself putting on your vehicle?
  • Money Matters: Are you leasing, or do you own your vehicle?
  • Age (not yours… your cars!): Did you purchase a new or used vehicle?
  • Pre-Usage: How many miles were on your vehicle when you purchased it?

Let’s say you purchased a new BMW or Mini Cooper and are hoping to own it a maximum of 5 years with a maximum of 70,000 miles, well technically you could follow the manufacturer’s guidelines. You’ll be leaving the next person a mess, but you could still get away with it. Even if you purchased the vehicle used at around 50,000 miles and still don’t plan on going over 70,000 miles, you could get away with the manufacturer’s guidelines. It’s just not recommended you do so. Ever heard of the phrase, “running the car into the ground”? That’s basically what you’re doing to a vehicle that, with regular maintenance from Beyer Motor Works, could have a much longer shelf life. The longer the shelf life, the better financial value the vehicle becomes to the purchaser.

And of course, if you plan on owning your BMW or Mini Cooper beyond 5 years or 70,000 miles then regular maintenance with Beyer Motor Works is an absolute must to avoid major and expensive component failures.
